PR Perspectives: How Segmenting Audiences Is Creating Giant Value
for Companies
In a world that is so fast paced and mobile heavy, companies need
to leverage their way of marketing to specific audiences. The article does a
great job in addressing the need to identify each target public and market to
their specific needs. Starbucks for example, has both a mid-old audience with
higher income that they market to, as well as a very young-early adulthood with
no to low income that they also market to. Starbucks is a great example of
segregated marketing because of these two very different audiences. This also
applies to companies that cater to professional audiences as well, B2B, B2C and
B2E.
Companies are able to utilize segregated marketing in all
platforms of communication. Separate navigation on your website is a hot tool
that many businesses are taking advantage of. By creating “who you are” options
for customers visiting your page can not only give them the information they
need, but it can create a sense of importance in their time and interaction.
Creating different email lists of specified audiences and tailoring emails to
each. This can also come into play when using SMS or Social media posts.
Knowing your audience is one of the most important ways for a business to be
successful.
As we enter into the PR world many clients will need assistance in
understanding ways to segregate marketing and also the importance behind it. We
need to understand that not one fits all as our world continues to move even
more toward social/digital. Everyone’s time is valuable, and giving consumers
what they need right off the bat, is the key to better business.

“Air” Conditioning: Human-Interest and Visual Angles Are Keys to
Pitching TV
This article breaks down how to get your story on TV and keep
viewers interested. PR professionals need to be prepared when it comes to
pleasing viewers and getting their story heard. Today we can scroll through
just about anything and everything in a short amount of time. What do we need
to do to get our stories to the forefront of people’s view? Making sure that
the article is appealing, along with visuals that tell the story. No one wants
to just watch a clip of someone talking about a story, people want a clip that
shows the story, gives them a face, gives them proof.
The content is important when standing in the shoes of a PR
professional, but so it the way it is presented. Most people forget that
getting the approval to get on camera is only part of the battle. You need to
get the camera (and equipment) there and ready to film. The success stories of
having the best and longest parts of your clip shown are the stories that
involve help. PR professionals that meet in the middle, assist when needed and
be ultimately responsive.
Having your clip ready to shoot is another key factor is
considering time and efficiency. Researching your target audience to see what
would most appeal to them and executing the perfect bit to put in front of
their eyes.
These are just a few pieces of PR that we must not forget.
Creating that perfect newsworthy story to either redirect from crisis or
promote is a crucial piece to the success of yourself and of a client.
